UFC Fight Night tips: Said Nurmagomedov can extend winning run against Jonathan Martinez
The Nurmagomedov legacy in the UFC is still going strong without its main member as Said takes on Jonathan Martinez in a bantamweight scrap.
Said is the cousin of pound for pound great Khabib Nurmagomedov and his influence can be clearly seen.
A somewhat typical Dagestani wrestler, Nurmagomedov has the smothering pace and work ethic of his cousin, while also utilising his striking techniques, as shown in his wins over Mark Striegl and Ricardo Ramos.
His opponent is Jonathan "The Dragon" Martinez, a superbly technical striker with a great understanding of the striking arts.
While he has endured some bumpy moments in his UFC career, including losing to Andre Soukhamthath and Andre Ewell when he should have secured victories.
Nonetheless Martinez has improved significantly since his early days, with his brutal leg kicks often being a difference maker in his fights.
Much has been said of Nurmagomedov living up to his cousin's legacy in the UFC for obvious reasons.
Khabib was sitting atop the pound for pound rankings when he left and any relation of his certainly will have big shoes to fill.
But Said takes little notice of this and just keeps on winning, his submission victory over Saidyokub Kakhramonov where he faced heavy adversity proving that pressure makes no difference to this Dagestani destroyer.
I predict this fight will be another highlight for Nurmagomedov, as good as Martinez's striking is he is no match for Nurmagomedov on the ground and I think that fact may have sealed his fate in this fight.
