UFC Fight Night tips: Rodolfo Vieira can produce submission sensation against Cody Brundage
Two middleweights with a point to prove face off at UFC Fight Night as Rodolfo Vieira takes on Cody Brundage. Check out our preview, key stats and suggested bet for the fight.
Rodolfo Vieira and Cody Brundage still have a lot to prove in their budding UFC careers, and both will be looking to put unwanted reputations to bed when they face off in the octagon.
Vieira is one of the finest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners to ever set foot in the octagon, sporting gold medals from ADCC, the Pan American championships and so many more. His style of Jiu Jitsu is fast paced and stunning to watch.
But is that all he is?
His opening two UFC fights went exactly to plan, winning both by arm triangle choke, but when Anthony "Fluffy" Hernandez negated Vieira's world class Jiu Jitsu, he had no answer. After being brutalized on the feet, Vieira was submitted by Hernandez in the second round in one of the biggest upsets of 2021.
By contrast, Cody Brundage does not have anything close to the pedigree of Vieira.
An accomplished high school and collegiate wrestler at the Division II level, Brundage is a fantastic athlete but incomparable to what Vieira has achieved.
Despite sporting an 8-3 record with seven wins by finish, Brundage has often been second choice throughout his UFC career.
He was called up on short notice for three of his four UFC appearances prior to this contest, always a hard worker, Brundage needs an impressive upset win to break away from being an afterthought and assert himself as a priority in the UFC.
Key stats
Three of Brundage's four UFC bouts have ended in the first round.
All of Vieira's UFC wins have come by submission.
Suggested bet
Rodolfo Vieira to win by submission.
