UFC Fight Night tips: Nate Landwehr hoping to snap Austin Lingo’s winning streak
Two fighters looking to extend their winning streaks square off in a featherweight contest as Nate “The Train” Landwehr takes on Austin “Lights Out” Lingo.
A slick striker with an underrated submission threat, Landwehr's UFC wins over Ludovit Klein and David Onama place him on the cusp of a top 15 ranking. Victory over Lingo could see him get that deserved recognition.
Landwehr fought top talent across Russia during his early years in the sport, and many looked ahead to his UFC debut with much anticipation.
However, the excitement ended in tears as a vicious knee from Herbert Burns sent Landwehr to the canvas and halted his win streak at seven fights.
Lingo also lost his first UFC bout, dropping a unanimous decision to Youssef Zalal. Nevertheless, the Fortis MMA pupil bounced back with wins over Jacob Kilburn and Luis Saldana.
Lingo is a tough brawler who wears his heart on his sleeve. In his fight with Luis Saldana he was dominated during the opening round but fought back through gritted teeth to claim a clear unanimous decision victory.
This fight has all the elements to be a fantastic striking battle. Landwehr will have the edge thanks to his experience and grappling threat, but Lingo is tough and certainly cannot be underestimated.
