UFC Fight Night tips: Mario Bautista to continue submission masterclass against Guido Cannetti
Two finishing experts square off in this bantamweight bout as Mario Bautista takes on Guido Cannetti.
Bautista had a baptism of fire upon entering the UFC, replacing the injured John Lineker on short notice to take on Cory Sandhagen.
Ultimately, the future number one contender submitted Bautista in the first round.
Never one to be discouraged though, Bautista went straight back the drawing board and won his next two bouts against Jin Soo Son and Miles Johns (the fight with Johns earning him a $50k bonus for his trouble after a superb flying knee knockout).
After stumbling against Trevin Jones, Bautista is currently riding a three fight winning streak.
Guido Cannetti has somewhat of an unattractive record for a UFC fighter coming into this bout at 10-6.
Nevertheless, the Argentine warrior comes into this bout with serious power at his disposal after he dispatched Kris Moutinho in round one (something it took title contender Sean O'Malley three rounds to do).
Cannetti is 43 so this will likely be his final chance to make a run at the title, but a two fight winning streak followed up with a win over a prospect like Bautista, would show he is serious about his intentions and that there are a few tricks left in the old dog yet.
My prediction for this fight though is for Bautista to get the win.
Cannetti's ground game has been suspect in the past and I think Bautista will take advantage of this and take the path of least resistance to victory.
Key Stats
Of Cannetti's six professional losses, four were by submission.
Bautista has submitted his last two opponents inside the first round.
Suggested Bet
Mario Bautista to win by submission.
