OKTAGON 52: Denis Frimpong secures Newcastle bragging rights, Daniel Bainbridge also victorious
Denis Frimpong closed out the preliminary card at OKTAGON 52 with a unanimous decision victory over Jan Siroky.
The build-up to the bout turned somewhat heated, though it was the Irishman who ultimately came out on top.
Frimpong lost his OKTAGON debut last November against George Staines by submission, but The Menace was able to successfully turn his fortunes around in Newcastle.
The 29-year-old produced 112 strikes compared to 78 by his opponent and ended up winning all three rounds on the judges’ scorecards.
Earlier on the card, Slovakia’s Roman Paulus picked up a submission victory over Nathan Haywood in the third and final round.
The 23-year-old featherweight improved his professional record to 9-4 with the victory.
Germany’s Eduard Kexel also scored a victory after forcing a tap out from Rafael Hudson in the first round.
The featherweight now boasts a 10-1 record as he continues to forge his path through the division at OKTAGON.
England’s Jake McHugh improved to 2-0 with his second victory for the organisation.
The 23-year-old picked up a first-round submission over Ireland’s Armand Herczeg on the undercard.
In the first fight of the night, Daniel Bainbridge marked his OKTAGON debut with a decision victory over Hamza Dagdeviren in Newcastle.
The Brit improved his record to 3-0 with a unanimous decision victory over his German opponent.
