KSW 77: Mariusz Pudzianowski plays down injury fears ahead of blockbuster Mamed Khalidov fight
Five-time world strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski confirmed he is not carrying an injury ahead of his upcoming bout with Mamed Khalidov at XTB KSW 77.
The 45-year-old raised fears about his condition last week after posting a picture of a bruise on his left leg.
Nevertheless, Pudzian cleared up his status during Wednesday's press conference, saying: "My trainers prepared me well. I will give it my all like always. For the last eight to ten weeks, I was certainly not lying around.
"Those who follow me on social media know I took a week off after my last fight with Michal [Materla]. I returned to work, everyday, mornings and evenings.
"Nothing hurts me, I haven't got any injuries. Nothing more to add. I'm just waiting for Saturday."
The former strongman refused to say who will be in his corner come fight night, adding: "There's no surprise. The less you know, the better you sleep. Like someone once said, curiosity is a bad trait."
Out of his 25 fights, 24 have taken place with Europe's leading MMA organisation, KSW.
Pudzianowski, who is regarded as a sporting great in Poland, will now take on KSW royalty Mamed Khalidov.
The Chechen-born fighter is a two-weight champion with the organisation but has lost four of his last five fights.
Pudzian, on the other hand, is on a five-fight winning run with all of them ending in knockouts.
Both men rose through the KSW ranks at around the same time, and the prospect of a potential bout has been contemplated by fans for years.
Pudzianowski and Khalidov will finally clash in the cage on Saturday, headlining a big card at KSW 77.
