Hexagone MMA: Walter Gahadza to unleash ‘Sniper 2.0 version’ as he targets welterweight crown

Walter Gahadza

Walter Gahadza admitted he is ‘still improving’ as he looks to mark his 12th year in MMA by claiming the Hexagone welterweight championship.

The 35-year-old will battle Aymard Guih for the Hexagone belt this Saturday night in Poitiers, France.

Gahadza was a latecomer to the sport having started at the age of 24. However, that didn't stop the 'Black Sniper' from accumulating a rare 16-0 record in his first five years as a pro.
The Zimbabwe-born fighter went on to compete for BAMMA and Bellator, though in recent years wins have been hard to come by.
Gahadza has won three of his last 10 outings - including his most recent bout which saw him submit Greek contender Robert Oganesyan in the first round.
It was that performance which has earned Gahadza a title opportunity with France's number one MMA promotion.

When asked about his ambitions at this stage of his career, the welterweight contender told Planet Sport: "I've been involved in martial arts for 11 years, this is my twelfth year. There is still more to learn, more to achieve.

"I believe I'm working towards setting foundation to get these opportunities to perform.
"I do have goals and I will continue setting goals moving forward. I'm not overlooking Aymard. I'm doing it step by step. Already there's going to be another goal, another target that I'll set for myself and aim to nail."
Gahadza has already tasted big time MMA with Bellator, but admitted he would be open for another run with a major promotion should the opportunity present itself.
He said: "If a major promotion made me an offer, I would absolutely be up for the challenge. I still believe I have shown glimpses of myself, but not everyone has got to see The Sniper 2.0 version.
"I'm still improving, I'm in the gym, I've got great coaches around me at GB Top Team. I've got great support around me, great mentors.
"I'm going to keep performing, which is the most important thing at the top. If I keep performing, no doubt a major promotion will come out and make an offer. I'll be there prepared for it too."
Hexagone MMA 7 will take place on Saturday, March 11 at the Arena Futuroscope in Poitiers, France. British viewers can catch the action live on BT Sport and DAZN.
