Gillian Robertson eyes strawweight division after setting UFC record for submissions

Gillian Robertson

Gillian Robertson is considering a move down to the strawweight division, as she sets her sights on a UFC event in December.

'The Savage' improved her UFC record to 11-7 on Saturday by submitting Mariya Agapova with a rear-naked choke at UFC Fight Night 210.

The victory also saw Robertson earn her sixth win by submission in the UFC, which is a women's record for the organisation.
Now the 27-year-old is eyeing a UFC event in Florida on 3 December as potentially her next date for a war in the Octagon.
On this occasion she may be weighing in at 10 lbs less, as she is thinking about dropping down from fly- to strawweight.
"I heard there's a card Dec. 3 in Orlando (Fla.), and I've never fought in the UFC in Florida yet, so that'd be an awesome opportunity - maybe someone in the 115 lbs division," she said, as quoted by MMA Junkie.
"(My coach) has kind of been pushing for it, and I'm a little on edge (about a move to strawweight).
"But I've definitely been walking a lot smaller than I used to, and it's definitely an opportunity I'm looking at right now."
Overall, the Canadian is thrilled to be fighting for the UFC and can't imagine doing anything else to earn a living.
"This is the greatest job in the world," she added. "What most people get arrested for, I get paid for. So I'm happy with that.
"This is just so cool to be able to walk in the cage and do what I love and be able to just literally live my dream."
