Exclusive: Simeon Powell taking ‘beast’ Jakob Nedoh ‘very seriously’ ahead of £100k PFL Europe Final

Simeon Powell celebrates

Britain’s Simeon Powell is just one win away from scooping up $100k and becoming the inaugural PFL Europe light-heavyweight champion.

The 9-0 Brit has powered his way into the finals of the inaugural PFL Europe tournament and is now looking to stamp his name in the history books.

The 24-year-old defeated Mohamed Amine and Daniel Ladero to bag his ticket to the final which takes place on December 8 in Dublin.

Powell is one of the most exciting young MMA talents in the UK, with just two of his nine professional bouts going the distance.

The man looking to stop Powell in his tracks is Slovenia’s Jakob Nedoh – a 7-1 knockout specialist who has won all his bouts in the first round.

“This guy is a beast,” Powell told Planet Sport when asked about his opponent. “He’s definitely my hardest fight to date. I’m taking him very seriously.”

Nedoh is nicknamed ‘The Gorilla’ and heads into the $100k final having stopped Riccardo Nosiglia and Anthony Salamone.

Despite this, the Brit is up for the challenge, saying: “Since fighting in Paris, I only took a week off. I’ve been training hard and I’m in a good place. I’m fit, ready and focused."

Looking back at his previous outing – a unanimous decision victory over late-replacement Daniel Ladero - Powell admitted that wasn’t his finest bout but revealed he did take lessons.

“My honest opinion on that performance, I felt a bit lacklustre. But I felt like I did what I needed to do to get the job done. Take no risks and make sure I made it to the final.

“A lot of lessons were learnt in Paris. I’ve taken a lot from that performance to be honest. I’m now excited to fight in front of the Irish fans.”
