Ex Champions League star who took on Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid and Chelsea announces MMA debut

Former Legia Warszawa and Qarabag star Jakub Rzezniczak is set to enter the MMA freak fight scene later this year.

The 37-year-old is a former Poland international and has played most of his club football for Legia, racking up 376 appearances across all competitions.

During the 2016/17 season, the defender helped Legia to Champions League group stage qualification.

The club was drawn into the group of death along side Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

Rzezniczak played in five of the six matches and was on the field when his side suffered a record breaking 8-4 defeat to BVB.

The following year, the Pole moved to Qarabag and once again secured Champions League football.

Once again, the player competed in five of the six group fixtures, taking on Chelsea, AS Roma and Atletico Madrid.

On June 8, Rzezniczak will swap his football boots for a pair of MMA gloves.

Freak fight organisation Clout MMA announced on Monday that the player would take on Tomasz Matysiak in a three-round contest in Katowice.

Rzezniczak becomes the latest former Polish football star to make the MMA crossover.

Former players Tomasz Hajto and Jakub Wawrzyniak recently tried their luck in the cage, with varying results.
