BMF title on the line as UFC announce Dustin Poirier v Justin Gaethje 2
UFC lightweights Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje will slug it out for the "BMF" belt at UFC 291.
UFC overlord Dana White made the announcement on Tuesday. The honourary "baddest motherf*****" title is once again up for grabs following veteran Jorge Masvidal's retirement earlier this year.
Poirier and Gaethje have met once before in the octagon, producing a Fight of the Night drama that saw Poirier earn a fourth-round TKO.
The pair will feature at the top of a now stacked UFC 291 card, which also features former middleweight champion Alex Pereira, with the Brazillian making his light heavyweight debut against another former champion in Jan Blchowicz.
Crowd favourite Tony Ferguson gets a chance to stop his five fight losing streak against Bobby Green, while heel-turned-joker Paulo Costa gets a shot at Ikram Aliskerov.
Heavyweight knockout artist Derrick Lewis is also on the card, facing veteran Marco Rogerio de Lima, who has only had six of his 30 fights go to decision.
On Wednesday, White also confirmed that bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, fresh off a win over Henry Cejudo, will face Sean O'Malley at UFC 292 on 19 August.
