Newbury best bet: Sayifyouwill can give hot favourite food for thought

Newbury has served up a tasty racecard for us to enjoy on Tuesday evening, and one of its most appetising offerings is this competitive handicap sprint over seven furlongs.

19:15 Newbury: Pride Embracing Every Shade Handicap  (7 furlongs)

It’s no surprise to see Yantarni dominating the early betting after Ian Willams’ five-year-old landed a couple of cosy back-to-back wins at Lingfield earlier this month, with William Buick booked to maximise his chances of completing an impressive hat-trick.

Despite his subsequent five-pound penalty, Yantarni could well be odds-on by the time he’s loaded into his stall, and while strongly fancied to land this race, that short price has opened the door for all of his rivals to carry decent each-way value.

Red Maids is coupled with red-hot Oisin Murphy for the first time, which could enhance her chances of outracing her double-digit odds, while bottom-weight Freetodream could be another to watch if able to reproduce the form that earned back-to-back all-weather wins in the spring.

However, it is the latter’s stablemate, Sayifyouwill, who looks of most interest here, and although by no means an outsider as the current 15/2 second-favourite, that price could end up looking very tidy in the closing stages here.

Suggested best bet: Sayifyouwill in the 19:15 at Newbury

Amanda Perrett’s six-year-old mare has enjoyed eight previous visits to the winner’s enclosure, albeit only once at a turf track, which came two years ago over this distance at Salisbury.

It was back at that same Wiltshire venue that she made her 2024 turf debut just nine days ago, when she almost replicated that 2022 success, just failing to reel in the favourite to finish a never-nearer runner-up by a neck.

The way she ran through the line last week suggests she is tuned up for a repeat performance here under in-form Sean Levey, and if the race is run at suitable pace, she is likely to be one of the strongest again in the final stages.
