Group 1 placegetter NEVER SURPRISED (1) gave a sight here last time, leading until late before finishing sixth and beaten 3 lengths over 1m1/2f. Good record at this journey with three wins and two minor placings from seven starts and is a leading contender. Group 2 placegetter WICKED DJANGO (2) finished fourth two runs back then did well last start but found one better over 1m1/2f at this track, beaten only a nose after being prominent at the turn. Likely improver with strong prospects. Group 1 winner SHIRL'S SPEIGHT (3) finished fourth over 7½f at this track at his most recent appearance on July 28. Has to be respected. Group 3 winner WHISPER NOT (7) raced on the speed and dug deep to score by 2.25 lengths at this track and trip last start in a nice progression on the when resuming run. Likely to be there at the finish again.
