SINGING STAR (5) was in the money two starts back at Coonamble but couldn't back it up last time when 16th, beaten 11 lengths, at Flemington over 5f. Has the talent to take this out. GUTSY (2) built on a nice third two starts back at Dubbo with a win over 5f at this track two-and-a-half weeks ago, getting home by a nose. Jessica Brookes scored on him last time and retains the ride. Finds a suitable race and can play a major role. SIMPLY BETTER (7) was below her best last time, finishing sixth and beaten 3.5 lengths over 5½f at Quirindi. Best figures measure up nicely. Sure to run well. BRIEF STATEMENT (3) resumed a week-and-a-half ago over 5f at Orange and was only beaten a long neck into fourth after being in contention on the bend. Fitter so a likely improver.
