ALTERMATUM (14) was close to breaking through last time in work, closing the prep as favourite and finishing third at Ballarat before a seven months break. Jumps from a wide alley. Can make a winning return. BAILE FERVOR (1) resumes from a lay-off of six months. Could only manage to finish fifth at the latest run over 6½f at Goulburn. Should be forward enough following two recent trials. Set for a bold return. MIACAPO (2) ran well on debut last start to finish third over 5f at Warracknabeal in a tougher race. Likely improver so he can feature again. MALPENSA (6) stepped out on her debut over 7f at Echuca six-and-a-half weeks ago and finished ninth, beaten 9 lengths. Plenty of scope for improvement.
