NUTS 'N' BOLTS (1) raced in town last time and missed the frame, finishing fifth at Caulfield and beaten 2.5 lengths. Will find this much easier. Should be in the finish. VARANE (3) resumed last time out and finished third over 5½f at Bendigo, beaten 3.5 lengths. Leading contender. SILENT ALERT (4) was too good for a maiden field last start over 5½f at Stawell, scoring by 6 lengths. Is lightly raced and has plenty of scope for improvement. This is tougher but he is capable of another big run. ALECTRONA (7) returns from a layoff of six-and-a-half months. Worth noting she filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last prep over 6f at Ballarat. Can make her presence felt.
