SHOTGUN WILLIE (2) improved sharply on his fifth two starts back at Greyville with success over 1m1f at Greyville a month ago, getting home by a nose. Meeting a deeper field this time but he is good enough to play a major role. FRENCH TRIP (10) has been in the placings at his last two starts, finishing second last time over 1m at Greyville. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he deserves plenty of thought. CAPTAIN OLIVER (3) didn't do a bad job when second last start over 1m4f at this track, beaten a neck. That followed a win at Greyville the start prior. Going up a level this time but he is up to the challenge. KYOMAI (6) closed last prep nine weeks ago when he finished fifth over 1m3f at Greyville. Best figures have him right in the mix.
