PIER PRESSURE (9) settled well back then made a little ground and finished 2.2.5 lengths away in fifth last time out over 6½f at Rosehill when when resuming from a lay-off. Steps up in journey. Should camp just off the leaders. Will prove tough to beat. BERTUS (11) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 6½f at Canberra, beaten 5.5 lengths into seventh after being in contention on the bend. Must raise the bar but a big run will not surprise. CALLIDUS (2) was in control from the outset to score as favourite on debut over 1m at Tamworth six-and-a-half months ago and has not raced since. Has since been kept ticking over with a Scone trial. Has upside and is well-placed to feature again. CALIFORNIA BLUES (12) made progress last time out, finishing 2.5 lengths from the winner in third at the end of 7f at Hawkesbury. Likely to hold the form and is a strong top-three prospect.
