MAZU (6) put the writing on the wall last time when a close second in the G2 Premiere Stakes at this track over 6f. Good record at this journey with five wins and seven minor placings from 17 starts and has to be respected. ARKANSAW KID (9) raced on the speed last start and battled on well but found one better over 6f in the G2 Gilgai Stakes at Flemington. Has been in super form this time in work, finishing in the money at each of his four starts. Not to be discounted. SOUTHPORT TYCOON (3) scored last start in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley over this distance after he came from a long way back on straightening. Has a strong record at this trip, scoring two times from four starts. Settles back early but winds up late. Leading contender. AIRMAN (4) scored over this course and distance last time after racing on the speed then lifting to score by a head. Form at this distance is strong with five wins from nine starts and is sure to play a big role.
