SIMPLY BETTER (5) was safely held when fifth last time out over 5½f at Narromine, beaten 5 lengths. That followed a win at Wellington at the previous outing. Well placed and there is no reason she cannot make amends. OBSESSIVE NATURE (1) built on a nice third two starts back at Dubbo with a win over 5f at Grenfell a week-and-a-half ago, getting home by 2.25 lengths. William A Stanley scored on him last time and retains the mount. Going up a level this time but he is up to the challenge. STARANE (2) is back from a lay-off of three months and does go well when fresh, including a win to launch last campaign over 5f at Parkes. One of the genuine hopes in the race. CUMBOOGLE (4) was racing well without winning, finishing in the money on two consecutive occasions, before finishing fifth last time out over 5f at Dubbo. Has the pace to settle in the leading division. Must be respected.
