LONG LOST FRIEND (7) made late ground and finished 1.5 lengths from the winner in fifth last start over 5½f at Warrnambool, an improvement on her seventh at Warrnambool the run before. Finds a suitable assignment and can take this out. PORT LOUIS (2) turned in a nice effort to score two runs ago at Warrnambool. Not as effective last time out when ninth over 5½f at Hamilton, beaten 7 lengths. Ideally placed and is sure to be there at the finish. CRANC (1) last appeared when fifth over 5½f at Stawell seven months ago. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
