PORTIS (4) is a five-start maiden who is well and truly overdue, finishing third at this track (Dirt) over 1m last time out after being in the firing line on the turn. Ideally placed and is sure to play a pivotal role. LONG ASTRIDE (5) gets a change of rider and has been freshened up since finishing seventh over 1m at this track (Dirt) last start. Well placed to make amends. SMOOTH PLAYER (8) returns after nine weeks in the paddock. Closed the last campaign with a fifth over 1m1/4f at this track (Dirt). Nicely placed and can get off the mark. MIDHEIRFLYINHIGH (2) was beaten 14 lengths into fourth in a 1m1/2f contest at this track last time out. Better than recent efforts suggest.
