ACTIVE (9) turned in a sound effort last time but found one better at this track (Turf) over 1m1f, beaten 0.1 lengths. Cherry-ripe now. Yet to find winning form this prep but has been thereabouts with two placings from four starts. Among the leading chances. COMPASS RISES (8) is a nine-start maiden who finished sixth, beaten 3.5 lengths, when resuming from a lay-off last start over 1m1f at this track (Turf). Plenty of scope for improvement and is a great chance to break through. DARK POOL (2) finished third last time over 1m1f at this track (Turf) when resuming from a lay-off, beaten 1.5 lengths. Beautifully placed and is sure to play a pivotal role. INDEPENDENCE WAY (5) missed the placings when resuming two runs back then didn't do any better last start when 8 lengths away in eighth over 1m at Pimlico. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance.
