GORBACHEV (5) closed off strongly last start to get up for third, beaten a neck, over 5f at Hawkesbury on debut. Sure to go well again. IONACELTIC (15) finished third on debut four months ago, beaten 2 lengths over 6f at Scone, and has not been produced since. Ran sixth in a trial at Warwick Farm over 3f209yards. Likely improver and is among the main hopes. JARED (1) was in the money at Newcastle when resuming two runs back then could only manage fifth at Port Macquarie over 6f two weeks ago. Blinkers added this time. Solid top-three chance. SHELSTEIN (12) is back after a break of four-and-a-half months. Went close to a maiden win before the layoff, finishing third at his latest appearance over 6½f at Goulburn. Looks ready to run following a minor placing in a recent Warwick Farm trial. Rates highly on best form and should be in the mix.
