MR METRICS (4) is a six-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Joe Russo stable. Finished off last campaign with a tenth at Moruya ten weeks ago. Not seen at the trials but looks nicely placed. Leading prospect. BAKERSFIELD (3) scored two runs back then was well supported last time but could only manage to finish sixth over the same trip at Cairns. Has the talent to take care of this field. IMPARDOO (7) finished 3 lengths away in fourth last time out over 4¾f at Cairns when when resuming from a lay-off. Steps up in distance. Strong top-three chance. STRATEGIST (6) built on a nice third two starts back at Atherton with a win over 5f at Atherton a week ago, getting home by a nose. Finds a suitable race and can build on that last-start success.
