MATLOCK (5) started at 2/1 last time and ran below expectations, finishing seventh and beaten 8 lengths at Canberra over 1m. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he is one of the key runners. WHATADILEMMA (6) finished out of the money two starts back then he got a long way back and was beaten one length when sixth over 1m1 1/2f at Newcastle a week-and-a-half ago. Looks well placed so expect a big run this time. EL LAGO (9) was never in contention when 6 lengths from the winner in seventh over 1m1f at Wagga last start, a less impressive effort than his fifth at Canberra the run before. Meets a stronger field but he is capable of running a bold race. OWEN COUNTY (2) turned in a much better effort last time out to score by 2 lengths over 1m2 1/2f at Gosford. Likely to be there at the finish again.
