Group 2 winner INSTANT COFFEE (9) returns from a lay-off of 11 months. Was safely held at the only appearance last prep when sixth over 1m1 1/2f at Group 2 level at Fairgrounds (Dirt). Has switched to the Brittany Russell yard over the break. Should be poised just off the lead. Leading contender. Group 3 placegetter LURE HIM IN (4) scored at his most recent appearance, getting home by a nose over 1m1/2f in Listed grade at this track (Dirt). That continued the very strong form this campaign, with two wins from three starts. Big chance once again. DAI VERNON (3) looks to launch this prep the way he ended the last three months ago when he scored over 1m1/2f at Churchill Downs. Genuine type with two wins from four starts. Worth plenty of thought. MERLIN (1) was out of the money when resuming from a lay-off last start over 1m at this track, beaten 4 lengths. Fitter so expect a better run this time.
