FENDER (1) faded last time to finish tenth over 6½f at Randwick after showing good early speed. Better than the last run and will take running down. HARLEQUIN FIELD (17) finished out of the money when fresh from a lay-off two starts back then was beaten 3.5 lengths when seventh over 5½f at Doomben two-and-a-half weeks ago. Beautifully placed and is sure to give this a mighty shake. CORFE CASTLE (9) generally runs well fresh after finishing off last campaign with a city placing at Doomben. Placed in a recent trial. Runs fairly well when fresh. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. One to consider. SHAMATON (10) returns from a layoff of five months. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last time in work over 5f at this track. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
