AMPHACTOR (7) has recorded three minor placings from four starts this campaign, the latest when second as a well-fancied conveyance over 1m2 1/2f at Sandown-Lakeside. Racing well without winning and he is well placed to break through. FUTURE MONARCH (3) got well back over 1m2f at Caulfield last time and never threatened, eventually finishing 6 lengths away in eighth. This is a nice drop in grade so she can find the winners' list. VERIFIER (1) doesn't win out of turn but ran a nice race last time out over 1m2f at Caulfield, finishing third and beaten 1.5 lengths when he worked home well. Enjoys a drop in grade so he is perfectly placed to score. MEVIUS (2) drifted back when resuming last start over 1m2f at Ballarat and failed to threaten, beaten 9 lengths into ninth. Backmarker who keeps coming. Not to be discounted.
