VENOM WOLF (7) was a long way back last start but hit the line well to finish fifth, beaten 7 lengths, over 1m1 1/2f at Ballina. Looks suited here and rates a major contender. ROTHESAY'S RUBY (5) produced a reasonable effort when fourth last start after being in the firing line on the bend over 7f152yards at Gold Coast Poly, beaten 0.9 lengths. That followed a win at Murwillumbah the start prior. Suitably placed so anticipating a better run this time. SILENT RUSSIAN (2) did little and finished 12 lengths from the winner in ninth over 1m2 3/4f at Wyong last start, a less impressive effort than his fourth at Hawkesbury the run before. Finds a suitable assignment and can take this out. TALAKAI (6) ran below expectations last time at Grafton, finishing sixth and beaten 3 lengths. Deserves another chance.
