STARZ BARWON (2) is a six-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the F J Wieland yard. Resumes after finishing seventh at Bendigo at his last run nine months ago. Not seen at the trials but is in a nice race. Key chance who will go close. FODOR (1) finished 4 lengths behind the winner in fifth place when resuming over 4¾f last start at this track. Second up record is very strong. Leading chance on best form. IMPARDOO (5) last raced when successful by half a length over 6¼f at this track three-and-a-half months ago. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race. RIGEL STAR (3) hasn't been able to break through for an extended period, the latest effort a fourth over 5½f at Mackay after being prominent at the corner. Hard to beat in this suitable race.
