MAHSAY (12) closed off strongly last start to get up for second, beaten 1.3 lengths, over 7f32yards at Geelong when resuming after a break. Will drift back but wind up late. Will be tough to stop. SPELLMASTER (9) returns after five months in the paddock. Closed the last campaign with a fourth over 6½f at Cranbourne. Good effort to launch last prep when in the money at Pakenham over 7f. Set for a bold return. WINSOME FLOWERS (13) showed good early speed and raced on the pace last start before fading to finish fourth, beaten 4 lengths, over 6f at Geelong. Will give backers a sight. RUSSIAN ESCAPE (6) is a three-start maiden who was close to a win before a six months break, finishing off with a minor placing at Pakenham. Can pick up where he left off. Nicely placed and can feature in the finish.
