RUSSIAN SNIPER (2) built on a nice second two starts back at this track with success over 6f at this track two weeks ago, getting home by a nose. William Pike scored on him last time and retains the mount. Stepping up a level this time but on current form he is one of the chief contenders. VALDARENA (11) scored at her most recent appearance, getting home by a nose over 6f at this track. That continued the very strong form this campaign, with three wins from five outings. Expect a bold showing. CALIFORNICATION (5) was safely held last time when beaten 3.5 lengths into sixth at this course and distance after being the medium of solid support. Has a wide gate to contend with again. Gets back but will wind up late. Will prove tough to beat. DOCTOR JAY (9) was heavily backed and justified the support when resuming last start over 6f at Pinjarra, scoring by a neck. Open to plenty of improvement and cannot be ruled out.
