PLATINUM SHOT (10) hasn't won recently but looks close to a breakthrough based on her last start second at Northam over 6½f when beaten a nose. Facing a tougher assignment but she should run well. BLUE LAGOON (2) is coming along nicely this prep. Finished fifth when fresh from a lay-off two starts back at Ascot then improved and scored as favourite over 7f21yards at Geraldton two weeks ago, getting home by a long neck after being in the firing line on the bend. Meets some better types this time but another win beckons. ABLOH (4) wasn't far away when resuming last start, finishing second over 6f at Kalgoorlie after he was well back on straightening. The extra journey should play into his hands. Sure to be about the mark. CALIFORNICATION (5) was well fancied when resuming last start and proved too strong, scoring by one length over 6f at Kalgoorlie. Open to plenty of improvement and is among the better chances.
