MONT SAINT MICHEL (5) did very well to fill a minor placing when resuming at Benalla but raced below expectations last time over 6f at Pakenham, finishing seventh and beaten 12 lengths. Has the class to figure prominently. RUSSIAN SUMMER (11) had been rock-solid with two placings in a row before finishing 13th over 1m at Werribee last start. Backmarker who keeps coming. Will be tough to stop. ARACHIDI (12) pushed forward from a wide draw last time out and was prominent for a long way before fading to finish seventh over 1m at Wodonga. Must be included among the main hopes. SIR DOMIGO (3) won at Echuca two starts ago but was below his best at a more recent appearance, finishing seventh over 7f at Ballarat. Deserves another chance.
