HE'S MAVERICK (10) is back after a break of 11 weeks. At the last run before the layoff he finished sixth over 1m at Morphettville. Has ability and sure to prove tough to beat. BRUT STAR (3) is a five-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Will Savage barn. Hasn't raced since finishing seventh at Bairnsdale three-and-a-half months ago. Not seen at the trials but looks well placed. Should feature in the finish. NICODEMUS (7) was close to a maiden win before a seven months break, finishing off with a placing over 1m1 1/4f at Newcastle. Handy draw will assist. Leading player on best figures - bold showing expected. ANOTHER VAL (1) is a 11-start maiden who resumed from a lay-off last start and was beaten 8 lengths when seventh over 5½f at this track. Should progress from that last outing and poses a genuine threat.
