Plumpton free racing tip: Course-distance winner to rekindle impressive form after summer break

Plumpton racecourse

There’s a few in with a shout of landing this two-mile handicap hurdle, but we’re happy to follow the market and pick the justified favourite, who returns from finishing last term in promising style.

16:25 Plumpton: Bet Goodwin Handicap Hurdle (2 miles)

Along with Tapley, Junkanoo and Alto Alto, Davidoc is one of four course-and-distance winners among the seven starters, having easily outclassed his rivals in a Class 4 maiden by an impressive eight lengths here in April.

Having already shown promise in his three previous outings, Ben Pauling’s six-year-old  clocked up an excellent speed figure of 3 minutes 40 seconds on similar ground to that expected on Monday.

Three weeks later, he went on to make his handicap debut at Warwick, where he again took a step in the right direction, finishing a very respectable runner-up to the Jeremy Scott trained King's Castle, who was notably victorious on each of his next three starts, which is a strong form line.

He makes his seasonal reappearance here after 168 days off and is expected to be a much-improved hurdler this season, kicking off here under Ben Jones, who has been on board for all but one of his five career appearances, including both of those last impressive performances.

Suggested Bet: Davidoc in the 16:25 at Plumpton
