Cheltenham Festival 2022: Friday's Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle tips - Hillcrest a giant chance

Planet Sport's expert panel talk the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle on Friday, March 18. Hillcrest is the one they all have to get round.

The Racing Post's David Carr, former Cheltenham Festival winning rider Dominic Elsworth and Planet Sport tipster Jonathan Doidge get together to discuss the Albert Bartlett' Novices' Hurdle

The three mile Grade 1 test is the third race on day four at Cheltenham, starting at 14:50 and you can follow the action in our live race centre.

Henry Daly's Hillcrest stands at over seven feet tall and many are expecting the seven-year-old to put in a huge run in the colours of the late Trevor Hemmings.

But the Irish fans will want their say and trainer Gordon Elliott's Ginto and Willie Mullins' Minella Cocooner can't be discounted.

Have a watch of our video where Planet Sport's expert panel talk over this interesting renewal of the Albert Bartlett.

Ginto - Jonathan Doidge (Planet Sport tipster)

"I'm going to go with Ginto, who I fancied whatever race he was going to turn up in. They decided to go three miles with him, he's been beaten just the once on his debut in a bumper."
"Three out of three over hurdles and that form of that Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle win when last seen is as strong as anything that you'll see in this field. It was two and a half miles on soft ground and I think the step up in trip will be key here."

Hillcrest - Dominic Elsworth (Cheltenham Festival winning jockey)

"I think Hillcrest for me, it will be a nice poignant one because the owner Mr Trevor Hemmings, who I rode a lot for, unfortunately passed away recently but it will be a very emotional victory, he was a great supporter of national hunt racing."

Hillcrest - David Carr (Racing Post)

"This is always a trappy race because it is always full of staying young hurdlers, you don't know how good most of them are but we do know that Hillcrest is really, really good.

"He's a giant of a horse, he stepped up again when he won at Haydock last time, I think there's still more improvement in him."
