George Munsey regains Scotland's T20 batting record in mammoth victory over Austria

George Munsey

Opener George Munsey regained his T20 international record score for Scotland as he plundered 132 to help the hosts crush Austria by a mammoth 166 runs.

Scotland crushed Austria by 166 runs as George Munsey struck a record 132.
The left-hander hit six sixes and 15 fours in a belligerent 61-ball innings, in the process eclipsing the 127 not out Oli Hairs had amassed against Italy a day earlier in equalling his previous best.
Munsey's fireworks at the Goldenacre Cricket Ground in Edinburgh, which saw him become the first man to score two T20 international centuries for Scotland, paved the way for his side to ease themselves back to the top of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier table ahead of Ireland courtesy of a record winning margin.
They finished their 20 overs on 232 for two, with skipper Richie Berrington making a quick-fire unbeaten 40 as only Abdullah Akbarjan, who took both wickets for 22 from his four overs, offered any resistance.
An imposing target of 233 for victory always looked way beyond the Austrians, who slipped to a fifth successive defeat in the tournament after being dismissed for 66 with 21 balls to spare as Michael Leask took three for 11 and Chris Greaves two for two in just nine deliveries.
