Tyson Fury urged to get rid of ‘awful’ trainer; Gypsy King claims fight announcement is ‘imminent’
WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been encouraged to get rid of his trainer SugarHill Steward.
WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury needs to "let go" of his trainer SugarHill Steward, according to his father John Fury.
Fury started working with Steward following his split with Ben Davison towards the end of 2019.
With Steward by his side, Fury has become a more front-foot fighter and this was particularly evident during his two victories over Deontay Wilder.
The Brit has not been made to move out of third gear in recent wins over Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora but he will be tested if he fights Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia later this year.
It was initially hoped that the two world champions would meet in an undisputed bout earlier this year, but talks broke down after Fury insisted on setting unnecessary deadlines and making bold demands.
Usyk has now signed with Saudi Arabia's Skill Challenge Promotions, and this could make a deal with Fury more likely.
Deontay Wilder on whether he thinks Tyson Fury will fight Oleksandr Usyk in December: “Knowing him you wouldn't be surprised [if he doesn't]. He's one of those types of people, indecisive at times. If he don't sign, me and Anthony Joshua will still proceed.” [@MirrorFighting]

Lawrence Okolie is also trained by Steward and Fury Snr thinks his recent loss to Chris Billam-Smith proves that his son should be looking for a new trainer.
"It wasn't rocket science what he needed to do to beat Deontay Wilder, SugarHill was in the right place at the right time and Tyson again, like the previous men before him, he's made them all famous," Fury Snr told Seconds Out.
"It's not because of how good they are, he didn't do much for Lawrence Okolie, did he? Where was his box of tricks with him? Awful.
"If he was that good of a trainer, why did Emanuel Steward, his own blood-uncle, give Johnny Banks the head job? Why didn't [Wladimir] Klitschko employ SugarHill, instead of Johnny Banks getting the top job? I've nothing against SugarHll at all, nothing, he is a man getting paid like everybody else. Another one feeding a living off of The Gypsy King. You'll never get no straighter chat than [with] me.
"Tyson, wind him up and let him go."
Earlier this week, Fury hinted that he will soon have "big news" regarding his next fight.
"Hoping to announce a big fight very, very soon. Stay tuned," Fury said via his social media channels on Wednesday.
"I'm working hard, I'm in the gym, summertime ready - getting those abs out, or flab shall I say. Stay tuned. Big news imminent."
