Wimbledon women's singles final: Tips and suggested bets

Jasmine Paolini

Not many would have predicted that Barbora Krejcikova and Jasmine Paolini would contesting the Wimbledon women's singles final, but they are the two players with history in their sights.

In reaching the Wimbledon final, Paolini and Krejcikova have assured themselves 1,300 points WTA Rankings points and at least £1,400,000 in prize money.

Paolini will debut in the Top 5 of the WTA Rankings on Monday after reaching her second consecutive Slam final. She will become the highest-ranked Italian since Sara Errani in 2013.

Paolini is on track to become the highest-ranked Italian woman in the history of the WTA Tour, a status presently held by Francesca Schiavone, who peaked at No 4 in 2011.

Krejcikova is certain to return to the Top 20 after her second major final and first WTA Tour championship match of the season at Wimbledon. If she wins her second Grand Slam, she will return to the top ten of the rankings.

Paolini and Krejcikova have contested just one singles meeting with the former coming out on top in the 2018 Australian Open.

However in the time in between much has changed. Paolini has only really blossomed as a player in the last year and a bit and is now contesting her second Grand Slam final in a row.

There is little to choose between the two women when it comes to their records on grass this season with both racking up the majority of their wins on the surface during this run at Wimbledon.

Paolini has spent 50 fewer minutes on court when compared to the run of Krejcikova, playing nine games less than her rival but the same amount of sets.

Krejcikova is currently being offered at short odds to win Wimbledon while Paolini hasn't been registered as a big underdog either which makes the unqualified win a punt with low potential returns.

Both players have played two opening set tiebreaks and in the championship match environment on grass, this could be the way the opening frame of the final is settled.

Predicting the first set score can then be added with Krejcikova to win it 7-6 offering quite the payday if the Czech and Italian battle to a stalemate in the opener.

Krejcikova's experience could be telling and she might be on to swoop to a quick win at a predicted set score of 2-0.
