Olympics Men's Singles: Jakub Mensik vs Alexander Shevchenko

Promising teenager Jakub Mensik takes on another prospect with a bright future in Alexander Shevchenko.

Mensik defeated Shevchenko by two sets to one in their only previous meeting which came at Challenger level.

While Mensik is yet to crack the top 50 he is a player who is steadily improving and carries a danger for all who meet him.

Shevchenko will need to use his slight edge in experience and play a smart match to come out on top.

Olympics Men's Singles: Matteo Arnaldi vs Arthur Fils

Arthur Fils will be out to turn around a poor record against Matteo Arnaldi when they meet on his home turf.

Arnaldi has won four out of four meetings with the Frenchman including a first-round victory over Fils at this season's French Open.

Fils, however, comes into the tournament off the back of his biggest career title win to date.

It was in Hamburg that Fils stormed to the title and defeated home hero Zverev in the final.

Olympics Men's Singles: Milos Raonic vs Dominik Koepfer

Dominik Koepfer will be out to secure a second career win over Milos Raonic in Paris.

The only meeting between these two players took place back in 2021 and since then Koepfer has risen while Raonic has sunk.

Raonic has played just ten matches this year and appears to be winding down his career.

Koepfer has endured some struggles this term but has notched 19 match wins in his 35 singles contests.

Olympics Men's Singles: Alexander Zverev vs Jaume Munar

Alexander Zverev and Jaume Munar will clash with each other in the opening round of the Olympics for their second career meeting.

The last time they squared off, Munar won 7-6(1) 2-6 6-3 in the second round in Marrakech back in 2019.

Zverev will be out to show that was an anomaly and few would suggest that he won't turn around the result.

Zverev has been in good form this season although he has been short on big wins.

Olympics Women's Singles: Magda Linette vs Mirra Andreeva

Mirra Andreeva will be looking to repeat what she did in Madrid when she faces Magda Linette for the second time in her career.

Andreeva has enjoyed some great runs in big clay court events this season and is considered an outside shot for a medal.

She faces a player fresh off a championship win as recently as Friday.

Linette defeated compatriot Magdalena Frech in Prague before racing to Paris for the opening ceremony on the same day.

Olympics Women's Singles: Magdalena Frech vs Viktoriya Tomova

Frech may have lost the Prague final just a few days ago but she enjoys the easier opener without a doubt.

In five meetings between the players Frech has been the winner four times and should fancy herself for a fifth.

The Pole won't be her nation's top medal threat but this will be an important tournament for her still.

In a tough section, Frech could be a dangerous player if she starts well.

Olympics Women's Singles: Mayar Sherif vs Caroline Wozniacki

Egypt's top woman Mayar Sherif faces former world No 1 Caroline Wozniacki to start.

Wozniacki will be hard-pressed to power past Sherif given her opponent's strength on clay.

This will be the first time that these players share a court in a singles match.

Wozniacki is in action for the first time since a third-round loss at Wimbledon while Sherif was recently active at the Palermo Open.

Olympics Women's Singles: Ajla Tomljanovic vs Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff will be the clear favourite when she meets Ajla Tomljanovic given the Australian's almost part-time status.

Tomljanovic has lost three of her five matches on clay this season and is known to be weak on the surface.

Gauff's previous run to the final at Roland Garros will make her favourite for this clash.

The American will need to have an extreme off day to go down in this one.
