Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open

The Australian Open is down to the last eight stage with men's and women's quarter-finals split across Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday's programme looks like dynamite tennis on paper with Novak Djokovic's showdown with powerful American Taylor Fritz.

On Wednesday Alexander Zverev will try to halt Carlos Alcaraz's march to another Grand Slam semi-final.

Australian Open Women's Singles QF: Linda Noskova vs Dayana Yastremska | Pick: Yastremska

Australian Open Men's Singles QF: Novak Djokovic vs Taylor Fritz

Novak Djokovic will be out to extend his winning streak over Taylor Fritz to nine straight matches.

Fritz has yet to defeat Djokovic in eight attempts and will be up against it to pull off anything.

Djokovic has quickly returned to his best after shrugging off injury.

He is the title favourite for a reason and Fritz is unlikely to have answers to his game.

Australian Open Men's Singles QF: Jannik Sinner vs Andrey Rublev

Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev will compete against each other in the quarter of the Australian Open in what will be their seventh career meeting.

Sinner currently leads the rivalry 4-2 and has won the only hard court meeting between the players.

Sinner defeated Rublev in the Vienna semi-finals in their last match, which took place in 2023.

Rublev is the underdog here but these players are incredibly closely matched as the fourth and fifth seeds.

Australian Open Men's Singles QF: Alexander Zverev vs Carlos Alcaraz Garfia

Alexander Zverev will be out to play Grand Slam spoiler again when he faces Carlos Alcaraz for a place in the last four.

Alcaraz's conditioning has been questioned and there is a good chance that Zverev could test him.

Zverev leads the head-to-head between the two players by 4-3.

Counting against Zverev are the five extra hours he spent on court in the first week.

Australian Open Men's Singles QF: Hubert Hurkacz vs Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev has twice lost to Hubert Hurkacz when he was the top seed at a tournament and will be wary of the Pole.

Hurkacz has halted Medvedev's ambitions before and the Russian hasn't bested him since 2021.

Hurkacz has a powerful and accurate serve but Medvedev has a lot of defensive tools.

The resilient Russian should be very tough to beat in Melbourne.

Australian Open Women's Singles QF: Marta Kostyuk vs Cori Gauff

Coco Gauff and Marta Kostyuk will play each other for the second time; Gauff has the head-to-head record of 1-0 right now.

Gauff will be out to reach her second Grand Slam semi-final in a row but faces a determined Marta Kostyuk.

Ukrainian women have done well in Melbourne with two reaching the last eight.

Gauff won't be out to make special moments for others though and should have this one covered.

Australian Open Women's Singles QF: Barbora Krejcikova vs Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka is heavily favoured to retain her Australian Open crown after a statement start.

Sabalenka has a 5-1 head-to-head record against Krejcikova and most recently defeated the Czech player in a round-of-16 match in Stuttgart last year.

Krejcikova has spent a lot more time out on the court this week and Sabalenka could get the drop on her.

Having already won three sets to love during this campaign, and not dropped a set Sabalenka will take some stopping.

Australian Open Women's Singles QF: Anna Kalinskaya vs Qinwen Zheng

Qinwen Zheng is the rising star that everyone is watching but Anna Kalinskaya holds the edge in their head-to-head.

Both players have dropped two sets on their path to the quarter-finals.

Qinwen has been getting great results of later though and is riding high on confidence.

Qinwen is a player with huge ambitions who should not be taken lightly.

Australian Open Women's Singles QF: Linda Noskova vs Dayana Yastremska

Rounding off the quarter-finals is a meeting between the unfancied players left in the draw.

This will be the first ever meeting between the players.

Yastremska came all the way through qualifying to reach this stage and looks very hungry.

Noskova will also see this as a huge opportunity to bolster her career.
