Bastad top seed Andrey Rublev kicks off his Swedish Open tilt on Wednesday evening when he faces Thiago Agustin Tirante of Argentina.

Rublev needs to bounce back after a first-round defeat at Wimbledon but he should enjoy the return to clay.

In the United States, the final grass court event of the season is also taking place in Newport.

Here we make our picks for the match winners from selected contests on the ATP Tour on Wednesday.

ATP Bastad: Pavel Kotov vs Duje Ajdukovic

Pavel Kotov faces Duje Ajdukovic for the first time when they meet at the Swedish Open in Bastad.

Kotov secured a good win first up when he beat Chile's Christian Garin in three sets.

Meanwhile, Ajdukovic has come through qualifying and a first-round victory over Frenchman Luca van Assche and is yet to drop a set in three matches.

Kotov is ranked 70 places higher than Ajdukovic and his ATP Tour experience should carry him through this contest.

ATP Bastad: Andrey Rublev vs Thiago Agustin Tirante

If Andrey Rublev finds his level against Thiago Agustin Tirante there will be nothing the Argentine can do to stop his march into the quarter-finals.

It has been over two weeks since Rublev has had a competitive match after his early Wimbledon exit.

Therefore it will be key for Rublev to start well and find his rhythm.

Rublev enjoyed a bye through the first round but that also means he is yet to play on the Bastad surface.

ATP Gstaad: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Hamad Medjedovic

At the Swiss Open in Gstaad, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hamad Medjedovic clash for the first time ever.

Tsitsipas isn't having his best season but he is still well ahead of his rival when it comes to match wins.

Clay is Medjedovic's favoured surface but Tsitsipas has an incredible array of weapons on the surface.

Tsitsipas had a disappointing grass campaign and should be delighted to get back onto clay.

ATP Gstaad: Jan-Lennard Struff vs Leandro Riedi

Jan-Lennard Struff will be out to avenge a Challenger loss to Leandro Riedi when they contest their first full ATP Tour clash at the Swiss Open.

Riedi beat Struff at the Canberra Challenger in early 2023 but a meeting in Switzerland will be an entirely different prospect.

Not only will the match be played on clay but it will also be contested at altitude.

Struff should be able to use his booming groundstrokes to keep Riedi honest even in front of his home crowd.

ATP Hamburg: Francisco Cerundolo vs Maximilian Marterer

Another adept clay courter will be thrilled to be back on the red stuff as Francisco Cerundolo seeks to oust Maximilian Marterer and march on in Hamburg.

Cerundolo lost in the first round at this event last year and faced criticism for retiring two matches from defeat while playing a home player.

The Hamburg crowd might well remember that and seek to remind him of that instance.

Cerundolo has won the only previous meeting between the players which came at the Split Challenger.

ATP Hamburg: Dusan Lajovic vs Sebastian Baez

Dusan Lajovic and Sebastian Baez will clash for the fourth time in their careers when they contest a Round of 16 match in Hamburg.

Baez leads the rivalry 2-1 having also defeated Lajovic in their most recent meeting in Rome earlier this year.

The single loss actually came in Baez's home event, the Argentina Open when Lajovic was a qualifier.

Baez won't forget that and should be able to execute his blueprint for victory with minimum fuss.

ATP Newport: Ethan Quinn vs Christopher Eubanks

It will be an all-American clash when Ethan Quinn squares off with Christopher Eubanks for the first time.

Quinn gives up a lot of experience to Eubanks, who will be the clear favourite in this battle.

Eubanks needs to snap a three-match losing streak to reach the quarter-finals at the Hall of Fame Open.

Quinn has played just one match on grass, that being his first-round win over Marc Polmans in Newport.

ATP Newport: Benoit Paire vs Marcos Giron

Marcos Giron has a tough second-round encounter against French veteran Benoit Paire in prospect.

Paire is winding down his career but could still be a very dangerous player at this stage of the competition.

The 35-year-old Frenchman lost his Wimbledon qualifier but was able to win his second match on grass this season upon arriving in Newport.

Neither player took part in this tournament last season and this will be their first singles match against one another.
