Katie Boulter eases into second round of San Diego Open
Katie Boulter beat Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko 6-3 6-1 at the San Diego Open to move into the second round of the tournament.
The world number 49 had too much for her opponent and booked a second-round match against Beatriz Haddad Maia on Wednesday.
After winning the first set Boulter dropped her serve in the opening game of the second but hit back by reeling off six consecutive games to take the match.
Boulter also reached the last 16 of her previous tournament in Linz at the start of this month, including a straight-sets win over Italy's Jasmine Paolini.
That win was made to look more impressive at the weekend after Paolini saw off Anna Kalinskaya to win her second career title at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
