Wolves vs Man Utd tips and predictions: Hungry Wolves set on Red Devils revenge
Wolves will play host to Manchester United in a Premier League clash at Molineux on Thursday night (2015 GMT) and we think Gary O’Neil’s side may be set on revenge.
The form book suggests that Manchester United could be in for a tough evening at Molineux when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves have lost just one of their previous 10 matches across all competitions and they’re unbeaten in nine on home soil.
The Red Devils flew out of the traps and took a 2-0 lead away to Newport in the FA Cup on Sunday, but a typically wasteful and chaotic showing allowed the League Two side to level.
Despite running out 4-2 winners, it was another blot on Erik ten Hag’s copybook. United have now scored and conceded 24 away goals across all competitions.
It’s hard to ignore that the Red Devils have won seven of nine meetings with Wolves, losing one and drawing the other 0-0.
Another constant theme when these sides clash is their inability to score goals. We’ve only seen both teams score in one of those fixtures, and there have been under 2.5 goals in 10 of 11 meetings.
Still, this side looks a little less battle-hardened and we suspect Wanderers will feel there’s a score to be settled on Thursday.
Gary O’Neil’s side outside United at Old Trafford earlier in the season and were denied a blatant stoppage-time penalty after a foul by Andre Onana.
Raphael Varane's headed goal let United off the hook as Wolves outshot them 23-15 and dictated the tempo of play.
The hosts have only allowed six goals in seven matches which only serves to strengthen the possibility of under 2.5 goals, as does the potential absence of Pablo Sarabia and Hwang Hee-Chan.
That duo’s goal involvements are responsible for 11 of Wolves’ 29 points with all of those crucial contributions coming at Molineux.
It’s hard to back United with any confidence these days and while the underlying numbers point towards a draw, Wolves’ appetite and greater fortitude could be the X factor.
