Sevilla vs Arsenal tips and predictions: Spaniards can match Gunners in Champions League showdown

Arsenal celeb Sept 202 2023

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage believes Arsenal will face more frustration in Europe as they prepare to take on Sevilla over in Spain.

Difficult game for Arsenal. Coming back from 2-0 down against Chelsea at the weekend. Losing their last Champions League game away from home.

Their record against Spanish opposition is not great. They’ve only won three of their last 17 away games against Spanish opposition.

I think it will be a draw, both teams to score, I’m going 1-1.

Robbie’s Tip: Sevilla 1-1 Arsenal

Team news

Arsenal came away relatively unscathed from their derby draw against Chelsea at the weekend. However, the Gunners are still without long-term absentee Jurrien Timber.

Sevilla, on the other hand, will be without Alfonso Pastor Vacas who has a knee injury.

Key stats

- Arsenal have won just three of 17 away games against Spanish opposition

- Sevilla only lost three of their last 10 home matches against English clubs

- Second time that Mikel Arteta will manage a game in his native Spain

- Sevilla are 13th in La Liga with two wins from nine games to their name

It’s true, Sevilla are not exactly flying when it comes to their domestic competition, but the European specialists simply cannot be underestimated.

Over the weekend, Diego Alonso’s side showed there’s still plenty of fight left in their squad as they held Real Madrid to a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The Europa League champions have drawn five of their last seven games across all competitions, losing just once in the process.

Sevilla certainly wouldn’t sneeze at another draw at home against Arsenal, though considering their first two Champions League games ended in stalemates, a win would be preferable.

There is a feeling that the Gunners would also welcome a point. Arsenal’s record away in Spain is poor with the Premier League side winning just three of their 17 trips to the country.

Arteta’s men have one win and one defeat to their name in the Champions League, with home games against Lens and Sevilla still to come.

Sevilla’s fight coupled with Arsenal’s quality should make for a good watch this Tuesday night.

From a betting perspective, we like the look of both teams getting on the scoresheet.

While Sevilla haven’t scored in their last three home Champions League games against English opposition, we have to take into consideration the fact they’ve scored 10 goals from their last five in all competitions.

Backing the draw in the outright market should also offer good value for your buck.
