Robbie Savage Carabao Cup predictions: Liverpool's quadruple dreams on the line against Fulham

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Six-months into the season, Liverpool find themselves on an unprecedented quadruple path. They will be looking to stay on it when Fulham arrive at Anfield for an EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.

Top of the Premier League, through to the knockout stages in Europe, fourth-round of the FA Cup and the EFL Cup semi-final.

Things are certainly going well for Liverpool, though many are now asking whether they can keep it going.

Memories of the 2021/22 season will undoubtedly come flooding back – a campaign which saw Liverpool come within two games of a quadruple.

That season, the Reds missed out on the Premier League crown by a point and also lost the Champions League final, leaving the club with a somewhat bittersweet domestic cup double.

Talk of titles, trophies doubles and quadruples is not that common for Fulham. The club’s only cup success came in 2002 when winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Apart from that, the Cottagers experienced final heartbreak in both the 2010 Europa League and the 1975 FA Cup showpieces.

Could that be about to change? Manager Marco Silva has got the club dreaming of a Carabao Cup success, though getting a positive result in the first leg of their semi-final at Anfield will be pivotal.

Here, former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage shares his thoughts on Wednesday’s match.

Robbie’s prediction

The last time these two teams met there were goals – 4-3 to Liverpool, Fulham were 3-2 up.

I’ve got to say, Liverpool were so impressive at the weekend. No Van Dijk, no Salah. Jurgen Klopp utilising the squad exceptionally well.

I think Liverpool will win this, I think Liverpool will go through. There will be goals. I’m going with a 3-1 Liverpool win.

Key Stats

- Fulham have won just one of their last 11 matches against Liverpool

- Liverpool have lost just one of their last 13 matches across all competitions

- The two teams last met in December, with Liverpool winning 4-3
