Wolves vs Liverpool tips: Expect a routine Reds win against goal-shy hosts

Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool

Planet Sport's Robbie Savage is predicting a routine victory for high-flying Liverpool at Molineux this weekend.

Liverpool are in fine form and will win again. You know Jurgen Klopp's team is in a transitional period, but they've integrated young dynamic midfielders and they look really good.

Dominic Szoboszlai is a fantastic signing and I think he’ll get a goal in an away win for Liverpool. I'm going for Liverpool to win to nil with Szoboszlai to get a goal.

Robbie’s tip: Wolves 0-2 Liverpool

Wolves vs Liverpool team news

New boss Gary O’Neil has been flexible, deploying different systems and giving Fabio Silva, Sasa Kalajdzic and Matheus Cunha opportunities in attack.

Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes look settled in midfield while a back four could be preferred to a three, meaning Matt Doherty, Craig Dawson, Max Kilman and Rayan Ait-Nouri all start.

Virgin van Dijk is serving a suspension for his red card against Newcastle while Ibrahima Konate is still questionable, meaning Joel Matip could partner Joe Gomez in defence.

Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz may have done enough to continue in attack, but Diogo Jota was among the goals during the international break, as was Cody Gakpo.

Dominik Szoboszlai has been a breath of fresh air in Liverpool’s midfield and looks like the sort of energetic box-to-box player that’s been missing.

Key stats

- Liverpool have been dominant in this fixture, winning nine of the previous 11 meetings.

- The visitors have won three of their previous four visits by a 1-0 scoreline.

- Although 10 of the past 20 meetings have had over 2.5 goals and 14 have had over 1.5 goals, both teams to score has won just six times.

- Gary O’Neil made 14 appearances against Liverpool as a player, avoiding defeat eight times and assisting two goals.

Other suggested bets

Wolves have made a positive start to the season as far as their performances are concerned, but they haven’t the goal and points tallies to match.

Scoring goals has been a problem for a number of seasons, so it’s no surprise Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in three of their previous four visits.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a fantastic start to the season and their new-look midfield has helped the structure of the team to no end. Even without Van Dijk and Konate against Villa, they still looked solid.

It’s going to be extremely tough for the hosts to break them down here and we expect them to be limited to fewer chances than they’ve been creating in other matches.

Being clinical just isn’t in their nature, so we think it’s worth considering a bet on Liverpool winning and keeping a clean sheet.

Liverpool to win to nil

Both teams to score: No
