Bournemouth vs Chelsea betting tips: Pochettino's men face must-win match at Vitality Stadium

Mauricio Pochettino of Chelsea

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage thinks Chelsea can get back on track in a must-win clash with Bournemouth on Super Sunday.

You certainly think from Chelsea's perspective it's a must-win game if they've got any chance of getting Champions League football next year.

They haven't got any European football this week, Mauricio Pochettino would have had time to work with players who didn't go on international duty.

But let's be fair, with the size of the Chelsea squad there should have been lots of people away on international duty.

So on the basis of no European football, he can pick his strongest team for this game, not worrying about what happens in midweek.

So I'm gonna go with the Chelsea win, their second of the season and I'm going to go with a Chelsea 1-0 away win.

Robbie’s tip: Bournemouth 0-1 Chelsea

Bournemouth vs Chelsea team news

Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert, Philip Billing, and Dominic Solanke have formed Bournemouth’s front four this season. However, new signing Luis Sinisterra could make his debut on Sunday.

Alex Scott, Tyler Adams, and Dango Ouattara are still at least a week away from returning from injury. Ryan Fredericks and Emiliano Marcondes are out injured.

Marquee signing Christopher Nkunku is set to miss the remainder of the year due to injury, while Wesley Fofana and the expensive Romeo Lavia are also absent.

Carney Chukwuemeka, Armando Broja, Marcus Bettinelli, and Reece James are still injured, but Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile might be back in the squad this weekend.

Cole Palmer or Noni Madueke could come into the starting line-up if Enzo Fernandez replaces Connor Callagher alongside Moises Caicedo, but Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson should continue in attack.

Key stats

- The Cherries have beaten Chelsea three times since 2015. A 4-0 victory in January 2019 is their only home victory to date.

- Chelsea are unbeaten in three matches against Bournemouth, winning two and scoring seven goals.

- Mauricio Pochettino is winless in 13 Premier League away matches, losing 10.

- Dominic Solanke made one Champions League appearance for Chelsea before eventually joining Bournemouth via Liverpool.

Other suggested bets

It's not make or break for Chelsea, but it's fair to suggest that even if Bournemouth have a good season, they're a mid-table team at best and you have to beat those teams to qualify for the Champions League.

The Blues have continuously shot themselves in the foot so far this season so a clean sheet would be a solid building block on high on Pochettino's wish list.

If the visitors can indeed get their noses in front and do a better job with their in-game management, then there's every chance they'll be presented with opportunities to grab a second on the break.

Chelsea win to nil

Under 2.5 goals

Both teams to score: No
